Learning
Young Jayel Taylor is only 21/2 years old. His father wanted to teach him how to play chess. So, one day Jayel’s father pulled out a chessboard and the chess pieces. He decided it was time for his to learn to play chess. So as he taught Jayel just listened and followed along. It wasn’t before long when Jayel became understanding of the pieces, the way they move, and where they belong on the chessboard. Then came the way you win. He had no problems understanding that, in other words the objective. He learned all about the special moves and the best openings and not before long Jayel had a grip of the game.
Chess Club Away!
Little Jayel finally knows how to play chess. What’s his next step? His next step was a chess club. While there, Jayel acquired some true knowledge. Although his club only met on Saturdays, he gave it his all every day. Sometimes they would teach new techniques, while other times we play against one another. One of my favorite days was when we all faced a grandmaster. It was only one and he played all of us. We were all amazed by his skill level. I also remember the day we received a chess set.
Chess Tournaments Already
Jayel’s now made through a few months in a chess club. His next step was chess tournaments. During his years of chess, he participated in 4 chess tournaments. In his 2 Latin School tournaments, his team placed 1st and 2nd places. In his Joliet Open, he won 2 to 3 games and received $75 from his father. In the Oak Brook tournament, he won only 1 game out of about 6. In all, Jayel was great. But everybody in the second Latin tournament knew him because of his big Cubs hat.
Who Is He and How Is He Doing
Everybody knows about Jayel but who is he? The answer is the author. This story is an autobiography. I am doing absolutely fine. I still play some chess but not as much any more. Now, I’m into electronics. I also play cards games such as Gin Rummy, Spades, and Poker. I also own a website. That is jayeltaylor.com. I have a little brother named Freddie (A.K.A. Duty). That is the story of the little kid with the big hat who loved to play chess.
